Security Guards

Every night when you sleep peacefully there is a person who wakes up the whole night just to keep you and your belongings safe. I think most of don't even pay attention to the hard work they do.

Security guards have a huge task in their hand, they don't just have wake up the whole night but they would have to keep a watch on our properties as well. If there is any thieves or robbers they would have to fight then off as well. Every night there life is at stake but hardly anyone pay attention to that.

People in forces keep us safe from external attacks and they get so much value and respect but these people who keep us safe from the attacks of bad elements of the society hardly get the respect they deserve.

I have this habit if working up late in the night and the only sound which I'm able to hear that time is that our the whistles that our security guards blow after certain interval of time. These whistles are enough to scare off the robbers, thieves and bad elements. This whistle tell them that there is someone who is watching over the people, there is someone who is there to keep the people safe.

We as society as so insensitive towards the people who are actually working the whole night to keep us safe. That not all they even keep their life at stake and don't get anything in return. Isn't it shameful that they don't even have a life insurance that would benefit their family if they end up losing their life while saving us. It's time that all of us have to wake up from our night sleep and face the reality and give the due respect and appreciation to our security guards. A sensitive and organized approach has to be taken to give them the value they deserve.

After working till late night, I sleep comfortably by hearing the assuring sound of their whistle which tells me that, "Sleep well, I'm here to keep you safe."

(This post is dedicated to all the hard working security guards. )

Virginity vs Morality

let me start by saying that I'm no moral police or a crusader who is here to give people any moral lessons. With this post I'm just trying to bring some points related to this debate of virginity vs morality into perspective.

In last few days I have read quite a few post about this topic and people have given varied opinions on this.Though I relate to many of them to a certain extent but there are some bloggers who are slapping their views in the face of their readers without taking the perspective from both sides.

Two posts are written about the fact that Virginity is not in the hymen. I totally agree with the statement that but not with the conclusions that are drawn from this statement. Matheikal writes “Virginity does not lie in the hymen but in the brain, it’s an attitude, a commitment,” I have to say his post is really thought provoking.

When it is in the brain and it is considered as commitment then how can somebody who hasn't been committed to themselves be trusted. The shallow beings who have been lustful and couldn't control their desires has no right to demand anything from anyone. Who is demanding this respect ? I read long ago that respect is commanded not demanded. Nature of the person never changes and if a person don't respect commitments then even after marriage there is a huge chance of infidelity and here I just don't mean sexual but in mental level as well.

Let me make it clear that I'm not talking about rape survivors here. I feel they are the victims of society. They can't be blamed for someone else's crime. As I wrote in the comment of one the blogs I read on this topic that I don't have any problem in accepting a rape survivor. You can Google and find many stories where boyfriends have married their girlfriend after their girlfriend's faced rape.

My point is about those people who choose to lose their virginity by choice and here I include both men and women. I think these people make it clear that they don't value virginity (read commitment) but these are the same people who make the most hue and cry about it. They try to hide behind the justification that rape survivors also lose their virginity and hence I have clearly differentiated between the rape survivors who are forced to lose it and people who lose their virginity by choice. Again forcing a point that I'm talking about the mindset and the attitude.

There can be just two justification for losing your virginity by choice, first you were in love with a guy and second you were adventurous and wanted to enjoy life.

Let's take the first case if you were in love then what's the point in marrying someone else ? and what if your lover wants you back again ? and since you have fall in love twice, just assuming that the person who is free enough to lose virginity would definitely marry someone they love, what is probability that you may not fall in love again ?

Second point is straight forward, the person don't value virginity or commitment and they should definitely find a match who have s.

I feel the most balanced point here was given by Nandini, "I feel if you are a virgin yourself, only then accept a virgin for yourself. If you've allowed yourself to be used and had your fun (with multiple partners) then don't practice hypocrisy."

Some people replied to my comment on this post that I have said that this is balanced because this suits my point. Which point ? I couldn't get that. If you are against this point then you mean to say you want to compel people who are virgin to marry people have had their fun and don't respect commitment. They are totally different people. This point also says that if you are not virgin then you shouldn't be asking for the same in the partner. Hence, I say it is a balanced view.
If two virgins are marrying each other then this problem won't arise. This debate stems in only when a person who is not a virgin wants to marry someone who is a virgin. I think the problem is created by these people only. You have done what you wanted to do and I'm totally fine with that but now you want that everyone should accept your thinking and your mindset which is not possible. You have to respect other's point of view.

I recently read a research called “Do-Gooder Derogation,” or our tendency to put down others if we feel they are morally-motivated. When someone’s behavior is overtly moral, we often feel annoyed and resentful, rather than impressed or inspired.

As Burt summarized, Guys, appreciate that marriage is a personal thing and people have their own preferences. Imposing ‘your’ preference and morals on the other is infringement of the other person’s rights. What 2 people do, till the time they are not infringing on anyone else’s rights, should not matter to you.

In my understanding the people who are imposing their own morals on others are no different than the moral police.

India celebrates diversity and it's time we celebrate the diversity in sexual preferences but this can't be done by pushing forward your view to others. We have to learn to respect each other's belief systems, choices and preferences.

My dad : A man of inner steel

I would like to start this post by a poem written by me for my father. This poem is my tribute to my father.

My school used to reward students who would be regular in their class. I was very serious about it, my parents always encouraged me to go that extra mile. I was in class 5 when one day I woke up and heard that there is a protest going on in the city and no vehicle can ply on the roads. I tried to confirm with my school that have they announced a holiday but they said the school will remain open and the classes will take place even of one student comes to class.

I told my father about this. He said "if the school is open then you must go, so get ready, I will drop you there". Without wasting any time he started his scooter which was the most popular mode of travel that time and we started our journey. After covering few miles, we noticed that the road was blocked. My father asked the protesters to let us go as I was having my school. They politely replied that if they allow us to go then everyone will come to them with excuses and the whole protest will fall apart. My father dropped his vehicle at one his friends house which was near to the place where the protest was going on and started walking.

I asked him, why did we dropped the vehicle there ?  He replied "they will not allow the vehicle to pass but we can walk through the protest." I was surprised to listen what he was saying. My school was still 7-8 kms and the heat was already wearing me down. I didn't question him and just followed his lead.

We crossed the protest and kept on walking. After sometime both of us were not feeling that well. My father suffers from bronchitis and he started coughing. I asked him if he wants to rest then both of us could stop. This protest is a natural problem and is same for everyone, there is no need to exert ourself so much. People will understand.

He stopped and replied, "it doesn't matter who will understand your problem but one thing will be clear that you didn't gave 100% to the task in your hand. You will always have this guilt that you didn't deserve this award as you skipped one day because everyone else also skipped it. If we fail, we fail but we will give it our best shot."

We again started walking and he kept on coughing throughout the journey but it never stopped him from putting his foot forward. We reached our school, there was hardly anyone in the school but as he said it doesn't matter. The teachers were present and they really praised me for my persistence and interest to attend the school but in my heart I knew all that these words of praise were for my father.

At that time I didn't noticed but later realized that he also went back walking the entire stretch. For me he is the man of inner steel. Who didn't brake in front of adversity and motivated me to fight against all odds. He exemplified the hard work and "will" that is needed to succeed in life.

It is not about a single incident that inspired me but the way he conduct himself in his day to day life is what makes him my role model. #MyRoleModel

I remember a time when the government stopped the salary of the university professors because of their protests. Though he wasn't the part of the protest he showed solidarity by supporting other professors on their agitation. Nobody was receiving any money for months when suddenly a person from the government came to iur house and told my father that since he and some of the other professors who weren't part of the protest will be given full salaries if they just sign the paper saying that not all professors were in support of the protest.

Financially we were in a tough spot, he was given a week to reply. He discussed this proposal with us and asked us what we think about this ? All of us were silent. We just waited for him to speak. Then he spoke in a heavy voice, we could feel the pain in his voice. He said "I won't sign on that paper as it will make the protest of his colleagues look really weak." For a working class person who manages his everything with the salary he earns, it was a tough decision to make as he wasn't salary for months. They kept asking him to sign but he never signed it, though some other professors went ahead and signed the document but he stood his ground like a man of inner steel. He said those people who took the salary were not strong from inside and he never talked ill about them.

It was almost a year when the government decided to accept the wishes of the protesters and the salaries were paid to everyone. Everyone came to our house and hailed his determination that he never gave up even after being tempted to have a easy way out. He is a person of morals and he has imparted the same in his children as well. #MyRoleModel

I think being righteous and not compromising with his morals is what sets him apart from rest of the people. He is widely respected and loved by his students and colleagues. I think the morals and determination which he has are the actually the "inner steel" qualities which makes him a role model just not for his children but for the thousands of students he has taught in his lifetime who still remember him by sending him cards and come to meet him whenever they get a chance.

Here's is the selfie which I took. Though my father was a bit surprised and I felt a bit tired but now when I'm seeing this I feel the "picture looks perfect". :)
