10 questions I hate being asked

I don't give much value to the things I don't like. I never hated something in my life but yes during my childhood I disliked being asked these questions repeatedly.

1. What's your name ?

2. What's you father's name ?

3. What is the meaning of your name ?

4. Where do you live ?

5. Which school do you study ?

6. Which class you are studying ?

7. What is your favorite subject ?

8. Who is your best friend ?

9. Whom do you like more, mother or father ?

10. Which sport do you like ?

That's not all. If you answer them then there is the "why" question which starts and they will keep poking you till you stop answering.

Then they have a big grin on their face like they have won a war and proudly tell your parents. That's fine, he's just a child. He may not know this much.

Stop torturing the kids every time you meet them.

Criminalization in politics : Satyamev Jayate

This is a sad state of affairs that criminals and corrupt people are given tickets and they even manage to win elections. Take a pledge not to vote for any corrupt politician this time.

This episode of Satyamev Jayate was shown on TV few days ago and just two days later it has been revealed in a sting operation by AAJ TAK channel that votes can be bought and people are voting at multiple places by removing their black ink. The chemical which can remove the black ink is being sold for huge sums in the black market.

Wake up people. Vote for honest people this time who will work for the needs of the common man and not for the criminals and corrupt people.

Why people talk loudly ?

"Please don't talk that loudly", that's what I always tell people in public or common places. I'm actually really curious to know why some people actually talk so loudly. Is this a natural habit like some traits which we develop from our childhood, can't say ? or there could be another possibility that they may be doing it intentionally.Just to catch the attention of the people. Who doesn't like fame, though in this case it is just for a few seconds :P

Interestingly, it is wrong to talk loudly whichever above reason you have for justification. It's wrong even if you use either of the above  two reasons because if you naturally do it then it means you don't pay attention to people around you and you are really ignorant. If you do it intentionally then you have psychological problem and should seek attention because you may be suffering from some disorder which makes you seek attention or may be you have a problem with your confidence level.

To sum it up you shouldn't actually speak loudly in the public space. It will definitely make some people to maintain a distance from you. :)

Who is Arvind Kejriwal?

If you are following current Indian political situation, then you would know that Arvind Kejriwal is one of the most popular faces in Indian politics right now. He is the crusader for anti-graft or anti-corruption movement. He is leading a mass movement which is driven by the common man of India and has successfully dethrone the current government in the recently concluded Delhi elections.

This seems to create a very huge persona of that person but in real life, he just a normal looking man, not very tall with just medium built and wears a plain shirt and trouser. This innocuous looking man has brought a revolution in today's Indian society. Some say that he's normal looks and attire are actually his plus points or USP which makes him acceptable to everyone and people in large masses have been able to connect with him.

So, who actually is this man? Does he have the intellectual capacity to lead India? Why people trust him so much?

Arvind Kejriwal is currently the 7th chief minister of Delhi. He was born in Haryana and was a very bright student. He did his graduation from one of the top most institution in India, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur or IIT kharagpur. IIT kharagpur is just not recognized in India but is among the world's best institute. Graduates who pass from this institute hold the top positions in all the tech giants. Even Facebook hires students from this institute. After graduating
he left his lucrative job in a top firm in India and started to work in the Indian Revenue Service. He served their as a Joint Commissioner. I should point this out that the Indian civil services exam is one of the toughest exam in the country and thousands fill in the form every year.

He achieved everything in life, he was a successful person and had a comfortable life but he decided to leave all of this and he started working towards Right to Information Act or RTI act. He was instrumental in bringing this law into existence. Just one and a half years ago he played a great role in anti-graft movement and which led to the formation of AAM AADMI PARTY (COMMON MAN'S PARTY). People from every part of society joined this party and it won the recently concluded Delhi election in December.2013. There are thousands of people who are still coming forward to join this party everyday even when there is a huge opposition the party is facing from the existing political groups. They want to replicate the success of Delhi election into the national election which is due in few months from now.

For his great work he was rewarded by

  • Ramon Magasaysay Award - Year 2006
  • NDTV Indian of the Year    - Year 2011 (along with Anna Hazare)
  • CNN IBN Indian of the Year - Year 2013

Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose : Remembering the legend on his 118th birth anniversary

India is a country with many diversities. We have diversity in religion, languages, food preferences and many other things but are we a nation which can tolerate diversity in opinion? I'm asking this question today because of a very specific reason. The reason is Subhas Chandra Bose who is fondly called Netaji (Respected leader) whose 118th birth anniversary was celebrated across India on 23rd January, 2013.

There are two very important points that has to be taken into account here which shows that why a different view is not tolerated in India.

1. Netaji Subhas chandra Bose was a leader of national stature and around 1930's he can he said to be the tallest leader in India. Some people believed that he was more loved and respected than any other leader in India during that time.  He held the post of secretary in INC around 1927 and also became the president of INC in 1938 but just because of his difference in opinion with Gandhi, the man was thrown to oblivion. His birth anniversary is not given due importance and his bravery and his work for freedom struggle is not promoted. He doesn't even get half the space in the text books which Mahatma Gandhi or other leaders get.

2. Second point regarding the difference in opinion is related to his death. Some people believe that he died in a plane crash with 3rd degree burns but most of his followers and admirers believed that it was just an exit strategy from him.

Even Wikipedia writes that he died on 18th August, 1945 but that is challenged by most of the people. Many commissions were formed to investigate the validity of his death but all the results have been futile. People in India still believe that he remained alive many years after faking his death.

Interestingly, this belief has its roots in the fact that Netaji in his real life was a master of disguise, he escaped many times by fooling the British army. The people obsessed with colonial culture in India described him as the British did. They were not interested to honor him and were just interested in their own honor.

The obsession with Netaji is such that people who fought war with him still remembers him, the family of those people who grew old listening to the stories of Netaji and his bravery, still consider him among the greatest freedom fighters India ever had.

Even in the current election season the head of the chief opposition party,Rajnath Singh, has demanded an investigation on the mystery of Netaji's death. (News article 1, News article 2 )This shows how much is the respect and affection people still have for him.

  • He gave the slogan "JAI HIND"
  • He gave the slogan "Tum Mujhe khoon do, Main tumhe Azadi Dunga" (Give me your blood and I will give you independence)
